Information Centre and Town Walk

Come into the Normanton Visitor Information Centre in the historic Burns Philp Building, located on the corner of Landsborough and Caroline Streets, where you can enjoy a cool drink and talk to the friendly staff. You might like to purchase a small souvenir and browse Normanton's attractions and history. The Visitor Information Centre houses the Heritage Centre as well and has displays featuring flood photos of Normanton, pioneers and explorers, wildlife displays and historical artefacts.

Krys the Croc  

Krys The Croc - The Savannah King

Krys the Savannah King is an accurate artist's impression of of the largest recorded saltwater crocodile captured in the world. This replica at L.E.W Henry Park, built to the dimensions listed in the Guinness Book of Worl​d Records, can be found as part of the Normanton Town Walk.

Burke and Wills Camp 119  

Burke & Wills Camp 119

Burke and Wills, King and Grey arrived in the Gulf on the 9th February 1861 and established their most northerly camp; Camp 119. When heading west towards Burketown on the Savannah Way, this camp is located on the eastern bank of the Little Bynoe River, 35km west of Normanton.

Mutton Hole Wetlands  

Mutton Hole Wetlands

From November to April, these stunning wetlands come alive as the monsoon rain replenishes dry waterways and lakes attract all varieties of birdlife such as brolgas, pelicans and jabirus. In the dry season the wetland retreats leaving a beautiful landscape of mangroves and grassland.
